Five media production students from Centennial High School got an in-depth look at the filming of a professional commercial at Point in Time Studios. The students were assigned to produce a short video recording the full production of West-MEC’s first-ever commercial. This gave the students a chance to put their own media production skills to work while observing a real studio production. read more »

It was a night of style, fashion and fun at the Cutting Edge Style Academy public open house. Students and instructors put on an evening of glamour, complete with stylish hairdos, glitzy make-up and dazzling dresses. On February 19th the Cutting Edge Style Academy in Peoria welcomed community members into the salon for a public grand opening open house.

West-MEC is excited to announce the first-ever West-MEC 2009 Student T-Shirt Design Contest! This free contest offers West-MEC design students a chance to put their graphic design skills to work in a real-world project. This contest is sponsored by SRP and the winner will receive one iPod touch courtesy of SRP. The panel of judges for this design contest are: Mike Tomko, owner/creative director, Tomko Design, Rami M. Kalla, owner/producer/director, Point In Time Studios, Chris Cook, director of marketing and public relations, West-MEC.

Newly elected members of the West-MEC governing board affirmed their service at the district’s first board meeting in January. John Atkins, Joe Holcombe, and Ray Malnar, along with returning incumbent Frank Straka were sworn into duty before the board meeting. The new board members joined current board members, Dwight Amery, James Kaltenbach, and Jack Lunsford.
Before welcoming new board members, West-MEC showed its appreciation to outgoing governing board members, Doris Flax, John Mulcahy and Garry Taylor. Flax, Mulcahy and Taylor were three of West-MEC’s eight founding governing board members.
