Behind the scenes with Centennial Media Students

Five media production students from Centennial High School got an in-depth look at the filming of a professional commercial at Point in Time Studios. The students were assigned to produce a short video recording the full production of West-MEC’s first-ever commercial. This gave the students a chance to put their own media production skills to work while observing a real studio production.
The commercial focused on West-MEC central courses and student actors were used to represent each of the district’s courses. The student video covered the making of the commercial and gave insight into West-MEC and the support it provides to high school students. The media production students made sure to interview studio production staff about the basics of conducting a commercial shoot and with student actors to hear about their experience acting on set. They also spoke with their media production instructor as well as West-MEC’s marketing and PR director to gain information about West-MEC.
After shooting video at the production studio, the students returned to Centennial High School where one student worked on editing and finalizing the video. The finished product is posted here on the West-MEC blog and it aired on the video announcements at Centennial High School.
