  CTE DRIVING THE FUTURE
APPLAUDS TO A WINNING NATIONAL CTE MONTH™
West-MEC actively participated and supported our member districts in the month-long celebration to educate and inform the public, policymakers and business community about the value of CTE and the role it plays in educating and developing a qualified workforce to compete in today’s economy.

The accomplishments of two students from West-MEC member district high school, Paradise Valley High School were recognized nationally. The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) named Joe Sandoval and Jacen Sievers winners of the CTE Month™! “Learning Today, Earning Tomorrow” Public Service Announcement (PSA) contest.

PATHWAYS TO PROSPERITY

Another major applaud during CTE Month™ was the release of the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Pathways to Prosperity Project study.

The Pathways to Prosperity Project was created in 2008 to find promising solutions to the current U.S education system’s failure to prepare millions of young people to lead successful lives as adults. The Project released a major report entitled, Pathways to Prosperity: Meeting the Challenge of Preparing Young Americans for the 21st Century.

Project Director, Dr. William C. Symonds, will share details of the report at two separate, two-hour informational sessions presented by CTE’s the Sky’s the Limit Expo and West-MEC on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the West-MEC Corporate Office. Attendance is free of charge at both sessions.
