“Employers can very easily tell the difference between the job applicant with a CTE background and someone with no experience. CTE students know what is expected of them as an employee and have technical skills. It is crucial for business and industry to invest in career education for students.”

BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY GUIDANCE

West-MEC is grateful for support provided from individuals, nonprofits, municipalities, government agencies, and business/industry groups. Our sponsors offer their support at various levels. Whether it is a donation of funds, time or resources, West-MEC is proud to recognize our supporters for contributing to the district in order to assist in empowering students to pursue their passions and participate fully in the economy.

    • Business and industry supporters have rallied around our newest program, Aviation Technology, donating more than $1 million worth of parts and components for student training including a full air-worthy Piper Comanche aircraft.
    • Our supporters have generously provided 80% of the engines, parts and other components for our Medium Heavy Diesel Program. Freightliner and industry partners are willing to invest in a new West-MEC training facility to ensure the effective development of their future workforce.
    • Time, resources and funding from business partners provide opportunities for our students to job shadow and intern to gain invaluable day-to-day working knowledge.
    • Contributions from business and industry make it possible for Aviation Technology high school students to spend only $500 for 1,952 hours of FAA-approved training that can cost as much as $30,000 at other aircraft maintenance schools.
