The Medical Billing & Coding program includes and requires a 120-hour externship. The program is designed to build knowledge and skills to prepare students for a career in the medical billing and coding field. The program includes the study of healthcare concepts, medical terminology, medical office administration, insurance claim processing, records and practice management, and medical coding systems. The program focuses on medical billing and coding as well as medical administrative skills in both the front and back office.

Upon completion of the program, students may test to receive certifications such as Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) and Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS).
